At IPLive, we love start-up success stories – especially when that success involves a client of Adams & Adams. In this case, Clement Mokoenene, a client of Wynand Fourie in our Patents team, has been selected as a national finalist in the Chivas Venture programme. The fund looks for innovative start-ups globally that use business to solve global social or environmental challenges – social entrepreneurs with a mission to create a better future.
Each application is reviewed and the very best from each of the participating countries is selected to take part in national finals. Clement has a chance to pitch to a panel of business experts who will offer advice and decide which finalist has the most promise to continue to the global finals. And if successful at the national final, he will receive one-to-one pitch coaching and social business mentoring by experts from the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, Oxford University.

Clement came up with the ingenious idea of transferring high volumes of traffic energy into electricity, and so, (VEHS) Vehicle Energy Harvesting System was born. By using a specially designed overlay on ANY road, VEHS drives a traffic turbine that generates electricity in a sustainable way.
