Aslam Patel is an attorney in Adams and Adams employment law department. He specialises in general, individual and collective employment matters. Aslam has acted for clients in the public and private sectors in a variety of industries, including the mining, steel, transport, energy, banking, software, manufacturing, pension funds, sanitation, pharmaceuticals and nutrition industries. His experience includes advising clients on the management of discipline, retrenchment and poor work performance procedures, as well as assisting in the prosecution and running of disciplinary inquiries; Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration and bargaining council matters, and applications and employment litigation in the South African Labour Court, High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal. Aslam is also experienced in the transfer and restructuring of businesses, and the drafting and reviewing of employment contracts and policies. Prior to joining Adams and Adams, he was an employment attorney at a top tier law firm. He previously also served as a judge’s legal associate and registrar at the office of the Chief Justice based at the Johannesburg and Pretoria High Courts, conducting comprehensive research on both South African and international law.
