Neale Christy is an associate in the firm’s Trade Mark department.
Neale’s practice incorporates both trade mark prosecution and litigation. He specialises in trade mark oppositions and cancellations, trade mark infringement and passing-off disputes, domain name complaints, ASA complaints and copyright infringement matters. He also advises clients on trade mark portfolio management and registration strategies world-wide, across various industries. He conducts and advises on clearance searches and assists with filing trade mark applications and prosecuting them until grant. Some of his key clients include Home Box Office Limited, Pick n Pay Retailers Proprietary Limited, Yair Shimansky and Discovery Communications, LLC.
Neale completed his LLB degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 2011 and his LLM at the same University in 2013. He was admitted as an attorney in 2015 and qualified as a trade mark practitioner in 2017. He is a also a member of the Cape Law Society and a fellow of SAIIPL.
Neale has been practicing in the field of Intellectual Property Law since 2013. He takes a practical view of the significance of trade mark rights and seeks to always find the solution that best suits his clients’ needs. Neale has authored several articles and presented on IP topics at various academic institutions across the Western Cape.
