Debbie is a partner in the Trade Mark Litigation section and is admitted as a solicitor in the UK, in addition to being a South African attorney and qualified Trade Marl Practitioner. Debbie obtained the BSc (Chemistry) at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1996 and the LLB in 1998.
She is a fellow of the Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL), and was previously President of the Institute Council. She is currently a member of its ADR sub-committee and convenes the Copyright and Education sub-committees. SAIIPL is the professional body that educates and examines attorneys specialising in IP, that want to qualify as Trade Mark Practitioners.
Debbie specialises in brand enforcement across the continent, including trade mark oppositions, infringement, domain name objections, and company name objections. She also regularly advises on advertising law.
Debbie has contributed to international publications, such as Getting the Deal Through: Trademarks.
