Somayya is a qualified attorney and trade mark practitioner who has worked in the legal field in the private and public sector in London, United Kingdom, prior to joining Adams & Adams in 2006. Somayya has been a partner of the firm since 2009 and specialises in intellectual property law and practices in the Trade Mark Litigation Department. Her areas of practice include trade mark litigation, domain name registrations and domain name disputes (including disputes before WIPO) as well as litigation relating to copyright, passing off, unlawful competition and company name objections. She has extensive experience in litigation proceedings locally and internationally. Her litigation practice extends beyond the borders of South Africa and expands across the African Continent, assisting local and foreign clients protect their intellectual property in South Africa and in various African countries.
