ARIPO celebrates its 50th anniversary
In March 2026, the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) celebrated its 50th anniversary at ARIPO’s headquarters in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The festivities included the debut of the organisation’s golden jubilee logo as well as the launch of the 50th anniversary theme, ‘Fostering innovation, creativity, and a sustainable future for Africa’. The logo (pictured below) was designed by Kellion Matina, a graphic designer from Zambia, who won the ARIPO Golden Jubilee Logo Competition.
The occasion was attended by various stakeholders both in person and online, and marked the start of a series of anniversary events throughout the year, leading up to the ARIPO IP Africa Conference, due to be held in Lusaka, Zambia, in December 2026. The event highlighted the need for regional co-operation in advancing innovation, industrialisation, and investment. The associate office of Adams & Adams attended the event, with the firm continuing its collaborative relationship with ARIPO in driving protection of IP across ARIPO’s member states.
