IP Awards 2026
On 30 April 2026, our flagship office in Mozambique, which was established in 2008, participated as the primary sponsor in the fifth edition of the Mozambique IP Awards. The event was held under the auspices of the Mozambique Institute of Industrial Property (IPI) and took place at the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) campus in Maputo.
The Vice-Rector of UEM, Dr Amália Uamusse, delivered the opening address, praising the initiative and reinforcing the university’s commitment to raising awareness of IP among students and entrepreneurs.
The Director General of the IPI, Sheila Canda, attended the event and gave the closing remarks on the future of the initiative, which is expected to attract a larger number of participants, as the competition is now open to regional submissions, expanding its reach beyond Mozambique.
The Adams & Adams Mozambique IP Award was first awarded in 2012. The winner is selected from candidates who have submitted their dissertations on any aspect of IP. The three best dissertations are chosen by a panel led by former IPI and ARIPO Director General, Dr Fernando dos Santos. Each finalist receives a certificate and a monetary award. This year, there were 14 entries from researchers at prestigious institutions, including UEM, Catholic University of Mozambique (UCM), Lúrio University (UniLúrio), and the Gaza Higher Polytechnic Institute (ISPG).
Adams & Adams remains committed to advancing IP awareness in Mozambique through its collaborations with IPI and engagement with the broader IP and academic community.

From L-R (seated): Amalia Vilanculos Cumbane, Adams & Adams Mozambique, Sheila Canda, DG of IPI, and Dr Amália Uamusse, Vice-Rector of UEM.
