Supporting trade mark protection for Ghanaian women entrepreneurs

Ghana is strengthening intellectual property awareness among women-led agribusinesses through a collaboration between the Registrar-General’s Department, through the Ghana Industrial Property Office (GHIPO), WIPO and the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry. In August 2026, the partners conducted training in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale for women entrepreneurs across the agricultural value chain, with a particular focus on trade mark registration and brand protection. The initiative highlights the growing role of IP in helping small and medium-sized agribusinesses build stronger brands, enhance the value of their products and improve their competitiveness in domestic and international markets.
