OAPI – Technology and Intellectual Property Day

On 13 September 2022 OAPI celebrated the Africa Technology and Intellectual Property Day, under the theme “Intellectual Property: Harnessing Industrialization and Economic Diversification in Africa”. The aim of celebrating the day was to shine a light on the policies, strategies and practices involving intellectual property and technology in the African economy.

The Minister of International Cooperation and promotion of public-private partnership, Denis Christel Sassou N’Guesso, was a speaker on the day and emphasized the importance of intellectual property and technology and particularly, the development thereof and the role that they play in advancing the member states of OAPI. The Minister also reiterated the importance of acknowledging and encouraging the creation of intellectual property and technology.

This celebration comes at a significant time for OAPI, as it celebrated its sixty-year anniversary, and following the entry into force of the recently revised Bangui Agreement.
