Tristan is a registered patent attorney of South Africa, working at Adams & Adams. He holds technical qualifications in the medical field, specifically in chemical and genetic based diagnostic methods supplementing his legal qualification.

Tristan’s practice is mainly prosecution-driven, with a focus on patent law, registered design law, and plant variety protection, for local and international clients. His work spans drafting mechanical, chemical and biotechnological patent specifications and registered designs where applicable. He is also heavily involved in registering plant breeders’ rights along with varietal listings, mostly for international breeders seeking to protect and commercialise plant varieties in South Africa and other African countries.
