The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) confirmed the deposit by the Government of the Republic of Tunisia, on 6 April 2023, of its instruments of accession to the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications, which was adopted at Geneva on 20 May 2015.
The Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement provides for the international protection of appellations of origin, through a single procedure with WIPO. Appellations of origin and geographical indications are distinctive product designations which require a qualitative link between the product referred to and its place of origin.
The Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement will enter into force with respect of the Republic of Tunisia on 6 July 2023.
