Uganda Hosts Workshop on Improving Management of Digital Rights
This two-day URSB workshop focused on improving the management of digital rights. International best practices for digital rights management were discussed in sessions led by WIPO and ARIPO specialists, and panel discussions focused on the use of digital platforms for efficient collective rights management. The workshop also included an analysis of Uganda’s current legal frameworks, identifying areas for improvement to enhance digital rights protections.
Key commitments from the workshop included strengthening IP and copyright laws, enhancing digital piracy enforcement, promoting collaboration between digital platforms and regulators, and creating sustainable digital ecosystems to support creators. We believe the project is an important step toward strengthening Uganda’s digital rights laws, which will provide fair compensation and safeguards for online creators.
