Adams and Adams promotes Mtho Maphumulo to partner, strengthening its Insurance and Financial Sector Practice

7 March 2025 – Leading African law firm Adams & Adams is pleased to announce the appointment of Mtho Maphumulo to partner in its Insurance and Financial Sector Practice. Maphumulo’s appointment reflects the firm’s strategic focus on bolstering its dispute resolution capacity, specifically in the insurance and financial sectors.

Upon completion of his LLB degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Maphumulo joined Adams & Adams as a candidate attorney in 2016. Since then, Maphumulo has advanced his career at Adams & Adams and has represented and advised internationally renowned insurance companies, insurance underwriters, intermediary firms, corporate institutions, and individual clients in insurance, regulatory and other financial services-related matters. This year, Maphumulo received an LLM degree from the University of Pretoria. His dissertation focused on the role and effect of the Treating Customers Fairly principle in the insurance industry. He is a thought leader and a frequent speaker on legal issues pertaining to insurance and financial sector laws.
