Melissa Morris

Melissa is a Trade Mark Practitioner specialising in trade mark and related intellectual property disputes across South Africa and the broader African region. She holds a BSc LLB from Rhodes University and completed her articles of clerkship at Adams & Adams. In 2018, she obtained her SAIIPL Trade Mark Practitioner qualification, equipping her with specialised expertise in trade mark law and brand protection across Africa.

Melissa advises local and international clients on a wide range of contentious intellectual property matters. She regularly assists clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings, trade mark infringement matters, copyright disputes, passing-off and unlawful competition matters, domain name complaints, and company and business name objections.

Having previously practised extensively in trade mark prosecution across Africa and served as in-house intellectual property counsel for a global pharmaceutical company, Melissa brings a wellrounded perspective to brand protection and enforcement. Her experience enables her to combine technical legal expertise with a practical understanding of clients' commercial objectives, allowing her to provide strategic, commercially focused advice tailored to each client's needs.
